THE GPU THREAD
I guess I'll make a thread where we talk about GPUs! I didn't see one (then again, I didn't look hard at all) so I figured I'd start one.

To begin, the card I'm currently using is a HD 4870 1GB, I LOVE this card, it's the first major-performance card I ever purchased (was always given cards by friends) and to this minute it's kicking away running the BF3 Beta on medium settings w/ no stuttering at all! Although I love this card very much, as of this evening I purchased a NEW CARD!

I got an XFX HD6870 1GB from NewEgg, here it is!

Lemme know what you think, and post what you have as well as what you think of your card and other cards!

RE: THE GPU THREAD
Bought 2 pointless 580's since all they do in BF3 is work 40-50 percent.... and so is my CPU. Why can't games take 100% of my resources and give me 500FPS? It makes me sad.

RE: THE GPU THREAD
I'm currently using a single HD4830, used to Crossfire it with a HD4850 but it caused issues (I think the 4850 isn't 100% working).

It's more than enough in CoD4, SC2, PES2011 and Minecraft.

RE: THE GPU THREAD
Currently have MSI HD 5770 HAWK. It's actually running BF3 at playable high settings.

Will be upgrading for HD 6950 2GB or similar. Either that or an HD 6970 if any of them drop below $300 by Christmas...

My HD4850

Never had a problem with any game until BF3 Beta. running the game on Ultra settings causes slight lag, but still playable. I'd guess 20-40 fps?

RE: THE GPU THREAD
I have a xfx 5850 and have been happy since. I did buy two 6970's when they released only two be disappointed at the spec's/naming. Since the x870's were always the "flagship" cards. But they went back to newegg and then I bought my monitors.

Computer: The MEH
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3-Intel Core i5-3570K-Mushkin Enhanced Redline 16GB( 2x 8 GB) DDR3 1866 Mhz (Ridgebacks)- Diamond 7970- Corsair HX850- OCZ Vertez III (120 GB)- Corsair H100- Corsair Obsidian 850D

RE: THE GPU THREAD
I have a single XFX 6950 2GB and a single eVGA 9800GT 1GB from an old SLI setup I used to have. I kept the 9800GT mainly for the couple of games that make use of hardware PhysX.

The single 6950 seems to run BF3 at ultra with virtually no lag at all for me. I was surprised it ran so well because I was thinking BF3 would be more CPU dependent and I still have an ancient Q6600.

I've wondered about how people do this... Cause my MoBo has a 4350 and I have a physical 4870, so is it possible to utilize obviously my 4870 but also some power from the Mobo's 4350?

Yeah, from what I've seen, they just aren't making the x870s to be the flagship model anymore?

RE: THE GPU THREAD
You're integrated GPU doesn't add anything.

6950 = New 5870
6870 = New 5850
6850 = New 5830

Everything below that is essentially the same, I think. My buddy put a 6770 in his rig, and the performance is comparable to my overclocked 5770
