Sooo.. After all that
After setting up phpBB for hours on end... come to find out the db was corrupted in a move from one server to another (mysql for my websites was split across 3 servers. the NRP site was on the one, all the DBs on other servers were moved to the same one as the NRP site.)

Not a big deal, i have a backup, right? nada. I get weekly backups on the NRP DB, but its live. I didnt setup the backup on the zA forums i was working on since it wasnt live (hell, my blog is on weekly backups, and i post to the thing once every 6 months... but its live. force of habit)

the plus side to this, i found myBB has a much easier to use portal system then phpBB, so the portal itself will be fuckin spiffy, compared to the phpBB one.... which was a pain in my ass 90% of the time.

Signup, I'll begin working on the site tomorrow after work, if not today (i still have a laptop to fix, lawn to mow, wall to paint... fuckin bullshit after 7 days straight working my ass off. i think i might be sick from work tomorrow, depending how i feel about it Smile

As a side note, I had set this up, after turning off the old forums i was working on to prevent spammers, etc ... at the end of last month. i didnt know about the move until just a few minutes ago when they responded that they had experienced a bit of an issue with moving my databases into a larger, faster server. but that since the site was offline, they couldnt check to see if it functioned, and since they didnt know how it functioned before the move, they couldnt tell what was going on. after they tried pulling my dbs 3 times, and got 2 that matched and were different then the first corrupted one they pulled, they figured it was fine. no, i dont blame them actually. it wasnt a big deal, and backups prevent my fear of loss or worry over it Smile

The company who was hosting our homepage (bokuclan), shutdown their servers. So we HAD to move.

RE: Sooo.. After all that
Yeah, the old site was horribly clogged up and inefficient. Although I really did like that place...

RE: Sooo.. After all that
So an update on the forums status...
  1. Server Admin list updated once a day. It'll get a full list of admins each day
  2. Ban list is updated once every 15 minutes.
  3. Live AJAX shoutbox is active.
  4. Forum and Portal theme reset to a more zA friendly color scheme
  5. Avatar Resizing allowed, Image resizing enabled, Sig scroll bars added (ultra large sigs now act as a style of iframe, so they dont throw off the site)
  6. Live, web control over B3 is active for vap. This will let him lookup Who Did the bans instead of only being able to see that the user was banned.

And the ToDo list...
  1. Forum converted into a fluid style. Currently it's locked at 908px. Need to redesign the header and footer as the body is conducive to a fluid theme as is.
  2. Vent Status script. I've gotten code to pull the data, now I need to format it using PHP. It'll do an update every 5 minutes.
  3. Theme the Ban and Server Admin lists so they look better Smile Maybe more data.

Now I'll be off to texture a wall and then if i have time i'll begin modifying the header and footer images before changing the site over to fluid. This may not happen until tomorrow afternoon. But I have to wait and see how things go here first Smile
